The use of digital technologies in mining and metals is not new, although a lingering digital disconnect exists between the vision of what companies want to achieve through digital and the pitfalls and problems they have experienced when trying to turn the vision into reality. Having a clear understanding of the key elements of past successes and failures is critical to developing a truly transformational digital approach to the productivity challenge.
